The case of the missing tooth

So those of you who know us pretty well, know that Maddie is a clutz. And I know that you have
said that it is only a matter of time before we ended up in the Emergency Room. ( you know who you are). Well, you were right !! It was late tuesday night(just before bed). Katelyn and Maddie were pushing eachother around in the doll stroller. Maddie had gotten up and was standing on top of it to get ready to turn around to sit down. She fell face first and started to really cry. The cries that they hold their breath and then shake their head. At first I didn't think much of it but then I saw the blood and so i went into the bathroom and sat her down on the counter. I looked in her mouth and to my surprise she was missing a tooth ! Oh my oh my I thought. I went into the bedroom again to see if i could find the tooth but nothing, no blood on the floor or anything. The next thing I thought was that she had shoved it up in her mouth. So instead of coming out it went back in. I rush down to have grandma help me see if we can tell but we couldn't tell. So I rush of to the car to get her to the hospital or Insta care. Long story short we end up at a kids care that was open till ten. By this time she is still crying so hard. We have a doctor take a look but she couldn't see anything and thought that the tooth had come out. We take her down for an xray to find out that we know for sure that she did not swallow it. Doctor poked around in her mouth and was almost positive that it had come out. She suggested that we go see a dentist in the next couple of days. The next day we go see the dentist. They took an xray and he thinks he has spotted the missing tooth !! A second and larger xray reveals that the missing tooth had been shoved up in to her gums and hopefully will come down on it's own and not get infected. Great news (I guess). It is not lost forever. Come to find out that Maddie just wanted to be like her mom because I did the very same thing when I was her age. Funny huh !! Poor Maddie, she was not a happy baby. This morning she woke up with the right side of her face swollen so bad - it just looked awfull. My poor Maddie Lou. She has done pretty well with this whole thing I do have to say. Case solved - thank you Dentist !!

P.S. The pictures were taken after we got back from the hospital. They had given her a popsicle to eat !! One of the perks to having a swollen mouth.

The Pool

We finally went to the store and got the kids a proper pool to cool off in !! It is a big hit, especially when you add the slide. I got the pool out last week and let the kids play. The girls teamed up to keep the slide wet so that they could slide down as fast as possible. When Katelyn would go down she would be going so fast that she would hit the other edge of the slide and that would stop her. They thought that was the funniest thing in the world. Both of them were laughing so hard. It was so cute to watch !! Don't you think Katelyn is stylin' in her sunglasses ? After they were done swimming they did a little sun bathing. All in all it was a fun day !

The Mountain Bike Racer

I got a call at 9:30 on Saturday morning. Patrick had left earlier that morning to go Biking. He had headed up to Solitude to go biking. When he arrived the parking lot was full of bikers. A little bit odd, he asked a passerby what was going on, Oh a bike race. Great, he had always wanted to try one. So he called me to see if he could register. I said yes and had to hurry up to get him some tubes(incase of a flat tire) and his other shorts. I got the girls dressed, fed and we were out the door. We arrived in time to see them take off and then I took the girls down to my moms so that I could go up and get some shots of him on the trail. The first pic is of him going up to the starting line, the second was him on the trail, third was him coming down to the finish line, and the fourth was the very last corner. Needless to say, 2 hours and 31 minutes after he started he came down the hill to finish. How did he do you ask? Well he doesn't want to talk about it but I will tell you !! You came in last place out of all the riders. But i don't care, I still cheered him on and love him even though he is not a pro. mountain biker. Good job hunny.

Happy Birthday America

It was a great Independence Day. Full of fun, candy, fireworks, and cute outfits. The day started out with a local community parade. Katelyn was mostly concerned about how much candy she could get !! And Maddie was busy trying to steal Katelyn's candy ! It was a great time to reflect on how lucky we are to live in this free land. Not all people have these freedoms that we take for grated and the opportunities that we have here. Grandpa Merrell joined us for the parade and I am sure enjoyed watching the girls experience the parade and crowds. After the parade, we went to village inn for breakfast. I then had to go to work, yes I know, I said work. So Patrick and Grandma Merrell took the girls to the local carnival for some fun. To my surprise they all got face paintings. I must say they looked great !! Late that day I met them for the firework show. Before we left Katelyn told us that she was scared of the fireworks because they are so loud. So if you look close in the picture, she is wearing Patrick's protective earmuffs !! She never complained so I guess they worked. All in all, it was a great day and a great holiday. Happy 4th of July everyone.
